Our Purpose

TO ENJOY

TO ENCOURAGE

TO ENABLE

TO ENHANCE

TO ENGAGE

We want the family of God in Newmills to enjoy worshipping God together, because that is what we were created to do.

We want to encourage fellowship amongst our members. It's important that those who are part of Newmills truly feel, and act, like brothers and sisters in Christ.

We want to enable those who come to Newmills to be effective followers of Christ. This is chiefly done through faithful Bible teaching and prayer.

We want to enhance members God given gifts and skills in ministry. This means providing individuals with opportunities to use and develop their giftings.

We want to be a church that engages in relevant mission both locally and globally. That includes, sending, supporting, and going.

Our Beliefs

1

God-centred

Jesus told us he is the way, the truth and the life. Our church life and worship is not primarily about us (or even you!), but about pointing us toward God in Jesus Christ. It’s always, all about Him

2

Gospel-focused

‘Gospel’ simply means ‘good news’. Our church life all revolves around hearing, exploring and enjoying what the life, death and resurrection of Jesus means for sinful people in a broken world.

3

Reformed Theology

We are a church which is part of the Reformed tradition. Our leaders subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith, which clarifies what we believe in many general, and some particular, areas of faith.

4

Presbyterian

Being Presbyterian means we are governed in a particular way and also that we are part of a wider church family. Our congregation is led by our Elders, who are part of our local Presbytery, which is itself part of, and under the authority of, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland’s General Assembly.
